A teaser trailer for the upcoming horror film Candy Corn premiered on Dread Central and has given us a treat to look forward to this Halloween! This is Josh Hasty's next film after his behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of Rob Zombie's 31. I have been looking forward to Candy Corn for quite some time and I am excited to finally get a peek at it! The film's ridiculously gorgeous poster (designed by Fright Rag's Justin Osbourne) was also unveiled, which you can see above. With this as well as the teaser trailer (which you can view below), I am even more excited to see this film, which we will hopefully get to see this year around the Halloween season. Horror film icons, Courtney Gains (Children of the Corn, The 'Burbs), PJ Soles (John Carpenter's Halloween, Carrie), Tony Todd (Candyman, The Crow, Final Destination), and newcomer Pancho Moler (Rob Zombie's 31, From Hell, American Horror Story), join the previously announced cast: Sky Elobar, Caleb Thomas, Madison Russ, Cy Creamer, Jimothy Beckholt, Nate Chaney, Patrick Ryan, Justin Mabry, Matt O'Neill, and Jaime Gallagher to round-out the full cast announcement of Candy Corn.
The suspense thriller, Candy Corn, is written, directed, and produced by auteur filmmaker, Josh Hasty (director of In Hell Everybody Loves Popcorn and the acclaimed feature length documentary on the making of Rob Zombie's 31).
The film is produced by Courtney Gains alongside Matt O’Neill and executive produced by Tony Todd, James Claeys (of Local Boogeyman Productions), Justin Mabry (of Trick or Treat Studios), Lindsey Kowalski, Ben Scrivens (of Fright Rags), Johnny Cooper, Nick Ford, and Brandon Cooper. Candy Corn is the first production financed by Local Boogeyman Productions.
Synopsis: It's the eve of Halloween in Grove Hill, Ohio. A traveling carnival is in town for the weekend and local outcast, Jacob Atkins, has been hired as one of the freaks in the event's main attraction, "Dr.Death's Side Show Spook House Spectacular." Meanwhile, a group of local bullies are planning their annual public hazing of Jacob, but this year things go too far.
Comprising the make-up effects team includes Justin Mabry (sculptor of the Michael Myers mask in 2018's Halloween and co-owner of Trick or Treat Studios), Chris Gallaher (Vice, Fear the Walking Dead, Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Passion of the Christ) and Erik Porn (Pineapple Express, Scream Queens, American Horror Story). Additional accredited effects team includes Russ Lukich (Hellboy 1 and 2, Jurassic Park III, Blade: Trinity) and Emmy nominee Dave Hartman (Transformers: Prime, Bubba Ho-Tep, Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny). Costume designer, Cody Varona (costume/stage wardrobe designer to Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie and Guns 'n' Roses) also joins the team.
