10 Things I'm Loving This July

By the time I post this, I'll be just a few days away from leaving behind Southern California and moving up north! I've been selling off a lot of my items and packing up the rest for what seems like months and I cannot wait to hit the road and start my new adventure with Mister Spooky and my cat Havoc!

As you can imagine, it has been another bananas month, I'm so glad I had some items that brought me joy this month. As per my monthly tradition, I'm sharing 10 things I loved this July. This monthly practice encourages me to reflect on things I'm grateful for this month as well as sharing some of my favorite things with you.

Here are my 10 Things I'm Loving this July:

1.) Leaving Southern California - It is finally real! By the time this month is up, I'll be leaving SoCal and I'm so excited! I am ready for cooler temperatures, more nature, more trees, and being closer to family. Of course, I'm going to miss all the incredible events, vegan food, horror community, haunts and Halloween events, and all the incredible people I've met here, but I know that this move will bring new adventures and opportunities and ultimately lead to more happiness for me.

2.) Crawl - I had a blast watching this killer alligator flick in theaters! Ok, it wasn't the most realistic of films, but for a summer popcorn flick it definitely delivered! Plus it had some incredibly tense moments and [MILD SPOILER ALERT] the dog doesn't die!!

3.) Epic Beyond Cali Burrito - I thought we were spoiled by the Beyond Avocado Tacos, but then Del Taco introduced this menu item (that many people were already veganizing when ordering, but now it's on their permanent menu)! Just tell them to hold the sour cream (it already doesn't come with cheese) and prepare to enter Beyond burrito/french fry heaven!

4.) Sounds to Make You Shiver record - So, I'm moving and getting rid of a ton of stuff. I've been using OfferUp and NextDoor apps to sell stuff, but one day Mister Spooky looked up Halloween stuff for sale and we spotted this Sounds to Make You Shiver record. Neither of us have any records, let alone a record player, plus we aren't supposed to be buying anything because of the move, but I couldn't resist this record with spooky Halloween sounds! I haven't even been able to play it yet, but I love the artwork and plan to frame it once we get settled wherever we land.

5.) Halloween Sneak Peeks - Stores have been releasing sneak peeks of their 2019 Halloween collections online and I can't keep up! From Target to World Market to Pottery Barn to Pier 1 to Grandin Road, there are lots of Halloween goodies you can pre-order now or at least look forward to in stores! And some places like Michael's, HomeGoods, and At Home already have started putting out their Halloween items in stores.

6.) Eugene, Oregon - I visited for a wedding, and this college town was so cute!! I was only there a few days, but I got to finally visit Cornbread Cafe (their fried "chick'n" was incredible!!), got to grab vegan pizza from Sizzle Pie (my first time visiting ever!!) and vegan Voodoo Doughnuts (conveniently located across the street from Sizzle Pie in downtown Eugene) and see lots of family. I loved the beautiful houses and trees everywhere and just how friendly everyone was! I'm hoping I get to make a trip back.

7.) Crying At Disney Podcast - Two ladies from two of my favorite shops, Meagan of Meagan Meli Illustration and Andrea of KMSxCo, started their own podcast discussing their love of all things Disney! As someone who grew up at Disneyland and loved Disney movies as a kid (and still do), it's fun listening to them knowledgeably chat about the most Magical Place on Earth!

8.) Less than 100 days to Halloween - Can you believe it?! We are now in the single digits in the countdown to Halloween! It's so close I can nearly taste the pumpkin spice! This Halloween is going to be completely different for me as I'm moving, but I can't wait to discover new Halloweenie events, stores, and pumpkin patches to explore!

9.) ID True Crime Shows on Hulu - I have been binging the hell out of all the new (to me) true crime shows that recently dropped on Hulu! I really liked The 1990s: The Deadliest Decade that covered a different murder every episode, Deadly Legacy that covered the search for John Wayne Gacy's unidentified victims, The Case That Haunts Me where detectives and others involved re-tell their hardest cases, and many more. They are the perfect thing to put on while I'm finishing up packing.

10.) Kite Hill Vegan Tortellini - OMG, tortellini used to be one of my favorite dishes and I haven't had it since I went vegan over 11 years ago. I was ecstatic when I heard Kite Hill was making vegan tortellini!! I finally found them at Whole Foods and enjoyed devouring the whole container. They are filled with almond milk ricotta and so dang good!

My July was a little all over the place, but I am excited for all the new things that are ahead for me! I'll be posting finds here, and you can follow along with my adventures on Instagram, too!

I always love to hear about items you are digging this month, feel free to share them with me in the comments!

Stay spooky!

  1. I'll definitely have to check out the 1990's: Deadliest Decade! Thanks for the recommendation. And I'll need to go back to Del Taco for that Burrito! I met a woman at a work conference who's from Eugene, Oregon. Her husband founded Alesong Brewing! I'd love to go out to the Pacific NW area. I've only ever been as far West as Utah. Best of luck with the move!
