Celebrate Easter with Witches and Trick-or-Treating

Did you know that witches and trick or treating are part of Scandinavian Easter traditions, which are still celebrated in parts of Sweden and other Scandinavian countries? On the Saturday or Thursday before Easter, young children dress up as witches or påskkärringar (the kindly, apple-cheeked, headscarf wearing kind, similar to Italy's la befana, the Christmas witch!) and go door-to-door asking for candy or other treats. How neat is it to have Halloween-like traditions in springtime?!

Yay for Easter surprises, especially when they come from Trick 'r Treat creator Michael Dougherty and our friendly Samhain mascot, Sam!

Native Foods Serves Up Vegan Easter Feast

This Easter Sunday only, one of my favorite vegan eateries is serving up a delicious vegan feast!! They will be serving a generous helping of their Spring Wellington with Tarragon Hollandaise and Alice’s Dinner Salad, which is a medley of field greens, sugar snap peas, strawberries, toasted almonds and currants with a fresh citrus dressing for under $10 a person!

A Happy Vegan Easter!

Ah Easter! Spring has sprung, birds are singing beneath a flawlessly blue sky, flowers are madly blooming all over the place and the grass is a rich emerald green. I may hold a special place in my heart for Halloween, but I love the feeling of rebirth and starting anew that spring brings!

Top 10 Creepy Movie Bunnies to Ruin Easter

I stumbled upon this great article titled "Top 10 Creepy Movie Bunnies, In Case You Want to Ruin Easter," about creepy, weird, disturbing and outrageous rabbits in film by blogger Teague Bohlen (though it's hard to imagine anything beating the creepy Easter bunny above - image source)

Included are: that gravely-voiced rabbit dude from Donnie Darko, the vicious Rabbit of Caerbannog from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the campy Night of the Lepus, and many more interesting choices that should give you a chuckle or two!
