Bewitching Gifts For Your Favorite Witch

The word "witch" means different things to different people, but to me it simply means someone who is fiercely independent, empowered, creates their own magic, and has a fierce respect for nature and the elements. Of course, I also must acknowledge that witchcraft is rooting in history and different cultures, with each culture having different variations of what "witch" means to them.

With that being said, I've rounded up a list of creators whose wares will wow anyone who is witchy AF, from those deeply rooted in the spiritual side to others who just like to dip their toes in the magical pool. Wherever they land, below you will find gifts that will help bring out the magic in anyone!

20 Creepy Calendars for 2020

I am one of those people that adores wall calendars - I even have multiple calendars in different rooms of my house! I am a very visual person, and wall calendars work so much better for me instead of using my phone calendar or even a planner. I love the physicality of wall calendars and how I can see right in front of my face if I have an event or appointment scheduled. I grew up organizing my life on calendars, so from the time I was pretty young I would gleefully look forward to receiving a calendar for Christmas.

I love continuing this tradition and gifting myself a brand new calendar around the holidays. I always take great pleasure in picking out the next year's calendar for myself, which is why I love sharing creepy calendars with you every year! In a way, it is kinda like we are shopping together for calendars, and how fun is that?!

So anyways, if you are old-skool nerdy like me, take a look at 20 creepy-cute calendars I've had my eye on and let me know which one is your favorite!

13 Krampus Gifts For Those On The Naughty List

Merry Krampusnacht to you ghouls and boils! Krampus has been around for centuries, but just seems to keep gaining in popularity here in the United States. If you're not familiar, Krampus, or the Christmas Devil, is a horned, cloven-footed monster that punishes naughty children on the night of December 5th, or Krampusnacht (Krampus Night). He is kinda the anti-Santa Claus, or more like Santa Claus' evil counterpart. He collects naughty children into his sack, then whips them as punishment.

The Christmas season is typically filled with sweetness and light, so I always welcome a figure that represents the darker side of the holiday. And I'm not the only one - lots of people have taken to Krampus and treat him as kind of the dark lord of the holidays. As a result, there are so many fun Krampus-themed gifts available, from toys to clothing to candles to books to decor and a whole lot more!

I've put together a list of 13 gifts to get yourself or your favorite Krampus-lover:

While organizing my time and events usually occurs in a digital format more often than not nowadays, I still LOVE physical calendars and usually like to have several around my house and work spaces. Shopping for next year's calendars is one of my favorite things to do, and I love picking out the spookiest and kookiest calendars for myself!

This year I picked out some calendars that are for those of us that appreciate a darker aesthetic, including haunted ruins, black cats, skulls, night skies, vintage macabre images, retro horror movies, Halloween, and favorite dark artists. My only problem this year will be choosing just two calendars for myself!

Macabre Non-Fiction Books for Darklings

I simply adore catching up on reading over the holidays - my family knows I love books, so I usually get a pretty good book haul for Christmas. Then for the next few weeks I usually spend my spare time on the couch curled up with one of the books I received. It's bliss!

This year, there are many new non-fiction releases that I have my eye on and that I've added to my Christmas wish list. The ones I've chosen below explore death culture and customs around the world, gorgeous cemeteries to visit before you die, grisly methods of Victorian surgery and medicine, historical charlatanism involving "cure-alls", and the popularity and downfall of spirit photography.

These nefarious non-fiction books are perfect for yourself or for that special someone who is into macabre history and death-positivity. Check out my non-fiction recommendations below for darklings!

Goth Gifts for the Strange and Unusual

Many darklings (myself included), struggle when telling our families and friends what kind of gifts we would like to receive during the holidays. Now, I know we should be grateful for whatever we receive (even if it is your millionth copy of The Nightmare Before Christmas), but wouldn't it be great if we could nudge our friends and family in the correct creepy direction?

I created this gift guide for goths the past couple years to not only share some fiendish finds I wouldn't mind having for myself but to also to make it easier on those that are shopping for strangelings. This year, I've listed items that are mostly from small independent shops and artists with a few products from larger companies. You will find something for everyone, including art, t-shirts, totes, banners, perfume, wallets, pillows, games, accessories,  hoodies, and more! As always, all items listed below are vegan and cruelty-free to the best of my knowledge.

10 Krampus Gifts for Creeps

Happy Krampusnacht! December 5th traditionally is celebrated in certain regions as Krampusnacht or Krampus Night ( you can read more on the history and traditions of Krampusnacht here and here!). On this night it is said that Krampus visits naughty boys and girls, whipping them and putting them into a sack to cart them off to Hell as a punishment. In countries like Austria, they have Krampus laufs, kinda like parades, where people dressed as Krampus and their demonic helpers stalk the crowd and punish those that they deem naughty. There are also events across the US that now also celebrate this holiday, including several events here in SoCal (check out last year's post on where to find these HERE!).

If you really like all things Krampus, and maybe can't make it to one of these events, the following Krampus items below might be able to fill the void! If you happen to be looking for a gift for a fellow Krampus lover (or yourself), consider picking up one (or more) of these deliciously dark Krampus-inspired products:

Celebrate Valentine's Day the Spooky Way

Hello boils and ghouls, and Happy Valentine's Day! Unfortunately I spent most of January sick (and with a sick cat and a sick Mister Spooky), and am still recovering from this plague, not to mention dealing with all that has seemed to go so wrong so fast in this country. So I hope you will understand that I haven't had much time to devote to you, my dear readers. I'm hoping that this will change and I will be posting more often, I can't believe I've already lost the first month and a half of the year and that it is already St. Valentine's Day!

Now, while I haven't had time to craft any new Valentine's Day posts, I still want to share posts from the past that will inject some much needed spookiness the holiday! Whether you're celebrating Saint Valentine, your partner, or yourself on this day of love, I've got some past posts on everything from what horror movies to watch to what creepy cards to give to the weird Victorian tradition of sending insult cards, and much more!

Stay spooky on this day of love by checking out some of my past posts below:
