Attend A Worldwide Memorial Service For Animals On National Animal Rights Day

This Sunday, June 3rd, 2018 marks the 8th National Animal Rights Day, an annual day observed across the world on the first Sunday in June to memorialize the billions of animals killed each year. The worldwide event is held in multiple cities, including Los Angeles, and its purpose is to give a voice to all the animals and raise awareness for their rights. This event is powerful, emotional, heartfelt, and inspiring and I highly recommend attending if you can! More info on the event, including the one in LA, is below.

National Animal Rights Day (NARD) was established in 2011 by the non-profit Our Planet, Theirs Too. The ceremony begins with a memorial for the animals killed for human consumption, entertainment, fashion, and research, with some animal victims being cradled by attendees. The ceremony is followed by a reading and signing of The Declaration of Animal Rights and it ends by celebrating the animals in our lives and the progress being made every year towards ending animals' suffering and how humanity is shifting to a more cruelty-free, plant-based lifestyle.

Los Angeles is hosting one of the events on the North Lawn of Pan Pacific Park (7600 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90036, corner of N. Gardner Street) with a memorial service at noon followed by a celebration at 1:00 PM that will have vegan food, speakers, music, and more! This year, Moby and other celebrity guests will lead the ceremony, which will include spoken word, song, and large-scale audio-visual presentations to convey an immensely powerful message.

Los Angeles joins other cities worldwide, including Paris, Frankfurt, Barcelona, Saigon, Manila, Hong Kong, Perth, Montreal, New York, and more, in recognizing animals and shining a light on the fact that they are just like us, with feelings, complex emotions, and distinct personalities, and it is wrong to exploit and kill animals for food, fashion, entertainment, and research, especially when there are so many alternatives.
