20 Creepy Calendars for 2020

I am one of those people that adores wall calendars - I even have multiple calendars in different rooms of my house! I am a very visual person, and wall calendars work so much better for me instead of using my phone calendar or even a planner. I love the physicality of wall calendars and how I can see right in front of my face if I have an event or appointment scheduled. I grew up organizing my life on calendars, so from the time I was pretty young I would gleefully look forward to receiving a calendar for Christmas.

I love continuing this tradition and gifting myself a brand new calendar around the holidays. I always take great pleasure in picking out the next year's calendar for myself, which is why I love sharing creepy calendars with you every year! In a way, it is kinda like we are shopping together for calendars, and how fun is that?!

So anyways, if you are old-skool nerdy like me, take a look at 20 creepy-cute calendars I've had my eye on and let me know which one is your favorite!

10 Things I'm Loving This April

It's officially springtime here and temperatures are heating up, flowers are blooming, the rain has stopped, and summer is swiftly on the way (but that just means we are closer to Halloween season, right?!). This month has been a whirlwind of activity and seems to have gone by in a flash! So much good stuff happened that it is gonna be tough to consolidate it down to ten, but here we go!

As I've been doing on a monthly basis with these "ten things" posts, I'm sharing 10 items I'm loving this month. This practice encourages me to be grateful for the little (and big) things in my life and also give me a chance to share some cool things with you!

The Seventh Annual Spook Show Halloween Festival

Ghouls and boils, this past Saturday I attended one of my favorite spooky spring-time events, Spook Show! This Halloween festival gathers some incredible vendors, entertainers, and Halloween-lovers together to celebrate Halloween in spring at the Halloween Club located in La Mirada, California. It definitely gives the spooky kids something to look forward to in springtime, when most eerie events are few and far between. Want a peek at my past years' coverage? Check it out past Halloween Club Spook Shows from 2018, 2017, 2016, and 2015!

This year was their biggest event yet, with so many new and amazing vendors, plus performances from musical acts as well as other performers and presentations. In addition to all the vendors offering horror and Halloween-themed items, the Halloween Club itself had a massive warehouse sale with hugely discounted props, decor, and more!

I had such a blast at this year's Spook Show 7 - I got to see so many fiendish friends, meet so many ghastly ghouls and boils, and of course shop 'til I dropped! I also partnered with some rad vendors and will be hosting a giveaway this week over on my Instagram, so stay tuned over there for details on how you can win a prize pack from Spook Show!

And now, for some photos from the event:

Creep It Cozy: Comfy Clothes for Horror Fans

Brrrrrr, this February has been cold, even here in Southern California. It even snowed in LA, which only happens once every 10 years or so! I know in other parts of the country it is much colder, especially with the polar vortex that made temperatures plummet in many states.

The chilly temperatures are a perfect excuse to bundle up at home in comfy, cozy clothes and watch some horror movies (which is what I've been doing all winter long!). I've rounded up some comfy clothes and accessories for horror fans that are great for lounging around the house, check them all out below:

Creepy Calendars for 2019

I am one of those people that MUST have a physical wall calendar - I love writing out plans and seeing what is coming up without having to look at my phone. I guess this is probably old-school at this point, but I just love physical calendars! I never got into planners, but with calendars I am obsessed! I love picking out new ones every year, and of course I love the ones with a darker aesthetic or ones that align more with my tastes. This year, I've picked out calendars that vary from bats and cats to sacred sites to haunted places to cult films to moon magic to true crime to classic monsters to Gorey art and beyond - pretty much everything that could tickle fellow darklings' hearts!

Below you'll find 13 calendars I've chosen for 2019 - now I just need to narrow it down so I can pick a few for my own office walls! Let me know which ones are your favorites...

Recap: Midsummer Scream 2018 - Day 2

Midsummer Scream was this past weekend and it was so much fun! I've already shared what day one was like (read all about it HERE!), and now I'll be sharing my Sunday at the event with you. Just like Saturday, day two was a whirlwind of activities! I got to hang out with amazing people, score some amazing Halloween and horror products, go through more mini haunts, attend Hocus Pocus' 25th anniversary panel as well as getting the scoop on Universal's Halloween Horror Nights. Sunday was just as crazy (if not crazier) than Saturday, with Halloween fans descending on the Long Beach Convention Center in droves. Like Saturday, Sunday completely sold out!! If you weren't able to make it, I have a huge giveaway coming up that will make it feel just like you were able to attend! Make sure you are following me on Instagram to enter!

Recap: Midsummer Scream 2018 - Day 1

The event I look forward to with glee every year, Midsummer Scream, was this past weekend. It returned for its third year at the Long Beach Convention Center and was expected to be bigger and better than ever (spoiler alert: it was)! There were approximately 20,000 attendees expected for each day, but I think it was closer to 25,000 Halloween lovers that actually showed up each day, with both days selling out! It was packed with excited Halloween and horror fans, and there was so much to do!

This year, Midsummer Scream featured a bigger show floor filled with incredible vendors, makeup artists, special FX artists, celebrity autograph signings, and more. I must have walked that show floor more than 10 times throughout the weekend, and every time I found something new! Then there was the expanded Hall of Shadows, featuring an entryway inspired by Frankenstein's castle, a new vendor section, performance stage, and of course the mini mazes! The bottom floor also held areas for the classrooms and photo ops. All of the major panels took place on the second floor (above the lobby) in the Grand Ballroom. The second floor also held the Black Cat Lounge, the second stage where other presentations took place, a screening room, and more.

I attended both days (check out my recap of Day 2!) and had a blast at both. I did so much that I decided to split my coverage into two posts, one for Saturday and another for Sunday. Saturday was spent mostly wandering the show floor, checking out the Hall of Shadows, and meeting up with other Halloween bloggers like Spooky Little Halloween and All Hallows Geek!

Check out some highlights of my Saturday at Midsummer Scream below:

Halloween Bootique in Costa Mesa, CA

We are certainly lucky here in Southern California to have an abundance of year-round Halloween stores, from Halloween Club in La Mirada to Halloweentown in Burbank to Traditions in Canoga Park, plus many more! One of those is Halloween Bootique in Costa Mesa, California, located right here in Orange County. For some reason I had never checked it out, despite driving by and seeing the signs for a looong time. This changed this past weekend when I needed a little Halloween pick-me-up, and decided to pop-in while I was in the area. Check out photos from Halloween Bootique below:

Vegan Vampire Merch for Spooky Vegans

There are a ton of vegan companies that sell stickers and t-shirts, but how many spooky vegan companies can you think of? Probably not many, which is why I was delighted to discover Vegan Vampire Inc., a company that makes vegan merch for the strange and unusual! Their entire line of vegan apparel and accessories is for those that enjoy the dark side and it draws inspiration from goth, punk, and metal music, horror films, monsters, and all things creepy and kooky!

The Sixth Annual Spook Show Halloween Festival

The sixth annual Spook Show was held at the Halloween Club this past Saturday, and it was an absolute blast! If you haven't heard of Spook Show, it is a Halloween celebration in spring, hosted by the Halloween Club, which is a Halloween store open year-round with various locations in Southern California. I look forward to this event every year, because it's a pumpkin-spice flavored taste of Halloween in the springtime. This was my fourth time attending this event (you can check out my visits from past years HERE, HERE and HERE!), and every year it keeps getting bigger and better! Check out more about this year's event, including tons of pics, below:

13 Creepy Calendars for 2018

While organizing my time and events usually occurs in a digital format more often than not nowadays, I still LOVE physical calendars and usually like to have several around my house and work spaces. Shopping for next year's calendars is one of my favorite things to do, and I love picking out the spookiest and kookiest calendars for myself!

This year I picked out some calendars that are for those of us that appreciate a darker aesthetic, including haunted ruins, black cats, skulls, night skies, vintage macabre images, retro horror movies, Halloween, and favorite dark artists. My only problem this year will be choosing just two calendars for myself!

Check out 13 creepy calendars below (links go directly to Amazon) and let me know which ones are your favorites!

Eerie Ornaments For Your Creepmas Tree

I love decorating my Halloween Christmas tree every year with eerie ornaments! I have just a small artificial tree that I decorate with mini Halloween ornaments I've had for years (you can check out photos of it from last year HERE and a few years back HERE!), but in the future I hope to get a full-size Christmas tree (artificial and in black, of course!) that I can decorate with Halloween and horror-inspired ornaments and lights. There are just too many amazing ornaments I would love to have that I currently don't have room for on my tiny (but adorable) tree.

Check out some of the eerie ornaments I'm coveting this year:

10 Haunting Holiday Cards

Most holiday cards aren't really my style, and while I love sending and receiving greeting cards, I do wish I got more creepy Christmas cards rather than the same ol' holly-jolly kinds of cards. Luckily, there are many other people that would rather have haunting holiday cards as well, and I've find lots of spooky stationary from some rad artists on Etsy.

So send some holiday fear this year with the following haunting holiday cards:

Gothic Gift Wrap for Halloween Lovers

There is nothing better than wrapping up your gifts in stunning wrapping paper to dress up that one-of-a-kind present for a special someone! And if that special someone happens to love the darker side of life, all things Halloween, and have a gothic aesthetic I have the perfect wrapping paper for them! You don't need to use the same red and green wrapping paper dotted with Santas or smiling snowmen/penguins/etc. this year, show your favorite people you really care by wrapping up their gifts in gorgeous prints featuring vintage spiders, bats, owls, pumpkins, the Grim Reaper, skulls and snowflakes, or even Krampus!

I mean, who wouldn't love to receive gifts wrapping in any of the amazing gothic gift wrap below:
