I usually don't frequent Walmart stores because there really isn't one near where I live and as a company they don't have a stellar track record, but when a little birdie told me they had awesome Halloween stuff I couldn't resist checking it out!
Since Target doesn't seem to have many Halloween clothes this year (boo!) I was most excited to check out Walmart's Halloween tee, pajama and socks section. The first thing I see as I enter the store is a huge Halloween clothes section! SCORE! They even had some nifty Universal monster tees (Creature from the Black Lagoon and the Invisible Man) and tons of awesome socks! They even had comfy pajamas and cute undies!
Here are some of their t-shirts:
And some socks, kid's tees, pj's and panties:
They had so much Halloween stuff! I mean aisles and aisles and aisles!
And some pretty cute jewelry. Check out these necklaces:
Unbelievable, this is my first time checking out Walmart for Halloween. They definitely had some neat stuff and I ended up buying a bunch of shirts and socks, plus some other Halloweenie odds and ends (like the bat necklace above and some adorable Halloween bracelets).
Have you checked out Walmart this Halloween season? I would recommend it just based on the awesome t-shirts they have!

Countdown to 31 Days of Halloween!
Hello boils and ghouls!
You may have noticed I haven’t been posting as much as I normally do, but I have a good reason! I have been a busy little bee prepping for my annual 31 Days of Halloween countdown. This is my favorite time of year and I love participating in this event (my 3rd year doing so) hosted by Countdown to Halloween (there is still time to sign up if you want to participate!).
You may have noticed I am slightly obsessed with Halloween. I decorate for it year-round, I love all things creepy and I’m a spooky kid at heart! I pine away for Halloween year-round, but when it does finally get here it always seems to go by far too fast! So my 31 Days of Halloween is a way to ensure I do something Halloweenie every day of October. I want to savor as much as possible during my favorite month and share it with everyone!
This year I will be posting lots of treats including my lists of my favorite Halloween books/movies/etc., vegan Halloween recipes, Halloween cartoons, Halloween art, recommendations for horror movies, my personal Halloween adventures and much, much more! Since the theme of my annual Halloween party this year is Zombie Prom, I’ll be posting lots of zombie-themed goodies (costume ideas, makeup, favorite zombie movies, zombie-inspired food [minus brains]) too!
Keep an eye out next Monday, October 1st, when the countdown kicks off!!
Make sure you are following me here on Blogger as well as on Facebook, Twitter, etc. so you don’t miss anything!
Will you be blogging about Halloween in October? Will you be participating in the Countdown?

Food Review: Candy Corn Oreos
I have been on a hunt for Candy Corn Oreos ever since they were put on shelves way back on September 10th. I went to several Targets (the only store carrying the elusive special edition Oreos), but I didn't have any luck finding them...that is, until yesterday!
I finally found them, but they were relegated to the back end cap of one of the food aisles. I thought it odd they weren't out on the main aisles or with the Halloween stuff, but I was just relieved to have finally found them!
And to the doubters, yes, these Oreos are vegan! Just want to get that outta the way first and foremost.
As soon as I got home I couldn't wait to try these treats! I ripped into the package and the first thing I noticed was how yummy they smelled! They were sweetly scented with sugar, vanilla and a hint of spice. Mmmmmmm!
I popped a whole Oreo into my mouth and savored the crunch of the cookie. The taste wasn't exactly like candy corn but I still loved it! It was sugary but not as overpowering as candy corn often is and had a smooth vanilla flavor.
I realize the cookies don't taste exactly like candy corn (which has disappointed a lot of people), but candy corn is essentially sugar and I think these Oreos with their vanilla sweetness are a good imitation. I love their taste and I will definitely buy another package! I also appreciate that these are vegan (though "accidentally" I'm sure...Nabisco isn't the most vegan-friendly company) and that they didn't add honey to their recipe.
::SIDE RANT:: I still cannot fathom people who call this the grossest-sounding cookie ever cuz they hate candy corn! I just can't understand people who don't like candy corn! ::END RANT::
What are your thoughts on the Candy Corn Oreos?

Sunday Funday: Favorite Photos of the Week - Autumn Edition
Happy Fall, folks!!! Yesterday marked the autumn equinox and I could't be happier for fall to finally be here. Of course, here in Southern California it is still broiling and hasn't dipped below 80 degrees in quite some time (today it is in the 90s and 100s...blegh). I was also unfortunate enough to come down with the flu and was out of commission for the good part of last week. So both the hot weather and being ill has made it seem less autumnal than I would like. I haven't even been able to bake since it has been so stinkin' hot.
Since autumn seems MIA here, I've been longingly gazing at fall photographs on Tumblr and Pinterest. I also realized I hadn't done a Sunday Funday in quite some time and decided I had to share some of the lovely pictures I have been drooling over.
Check out a selection of autumn photographs below (disclaimer: I do not claim ownership of any of the photos above unless otherwise noted):
Sigh...this time of year I really wish I lived somewhere that had seasons...somewhere I could see the colors change. Until I live in such a magical place, I guess I'll have to content myself by wistfully gazing at gorgeous photos.

Target's Halloween Shirts for 2012
It seems that every year Target has less and less Halloween shirts...such a shame! This year it looks like they just have a few women's Halloween shirts. Plus they don't have any Halloween pajamas or even socks!! I'm hoping they just haven't put them out yet, but the Target I went to was fairly well-stocked with the rest of their Halloween items. Boo.
Oh well...I can always reminisce about the shirts they had last year or the year before and wear the ones I bought previously!
Here are the shirts I saw at Target this past weekend:
You can check out what other Halloween goodies Target has in stock in my previous post!

This was the cutest one I saw!
Lame...totally lame.
I love owls and this was sooooo cute, but I didn't like the glittery moon
so I didn't buy it.

Halloween 2012 at Target
This past weekend I headed out to Target on a whim to see if they had their Halloween stuff out yet...surprisingly, the Target by my house did have a big chunk of their Halloween items out!! I went a little crazy and went on a bit of a shopping spree! The only thing that I couldn't find was Candy Corn Oreos, but all the other goodies I picked up more than made up for those treats.
I took some photos of what they had in stock, check 'em out below:
Is your Target fully stocked yet? What goodies have you picked up? Did yours have the Candy Corn Oreos?
I took some photos of what they had in stock, check 'em out below:
Cute skellies and tons of wall decor
Boneyard
Jack-o-lantern cups, spiderweb bowls and skull plates
Owl, skull and jack-o-lantern pillows
Lots of cool masquerade masks in the costume section
(I love the plague doctor mask!)
Grinning jack-o-lantern
Beautiful lanterns
Hanging jack-o-lantern prop that looks like it on fire
More cute tableware!
Cupcake liners
Montage of amazing frames...I ended up buying the "I'm batty for you"
one! Couldn't resist!
Haunted House Cookie Kit (pretty sure this isn't vegan, but it
was just too adorable to not take a pic of!)
My haul!

Happy Misgivings Day!
Happy Misgivings Day, fiends! Today marks the official kick off to Halloween season as decreed by Ghoul Friday. Though many of us have been prepping for Halloween for months now, it is nice to have a day where we pause and really do something fun in honor of the Halloween season!
It has been hot, hot, hot in SoCal the whole summer, but especially this weekend. Yesterday it was over 100 degrees(!!), so it definitely doesn't feel like autumn or Halloween season yet. Last Misgivings Day I was sipping on pumpkin tea and wrapping myself up in blankets, but this year it has been a bit of a struggle to get into the spirit with this crazy heat! Makes me wish I lived elsewhere with cooler autumn temperatures and fall foliage.
However, I have been working feverishly on Halloween posts for my 31 Days of Halloween and seeing more and more Halloween items in stores, so that makes me happier despite the heat!
This weekend I have been blasting the A/C to simulate an autumn chill, burning pumpkin scented Ecoscents and re-watching some of my favorite Halloween kid flicks, including vintage cartoons and the Halloweentown series. I wanted to bake, but it is just too hot to turn on the oven. Instead, I opted for some Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin Ale (it's vegan and delicious!).
What did you do this Misgivings Day weekend?

Fiendish Finds: Tinsley Transfers Halloween Temporary Tattoos
I recently received some of the coolest temporary tattoos I've ever seen, created by none other than special FX makeup extraordinaire Christien Tinsley! Tinsley is the mastermind behind the characters' makeup on American Horror Story (one of my faves!) and a three time Emmy nominee for Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup.
Tinsley was inspired by his work on American Horror Story and other series and movies to create special FX transfers that can be easily applied to create some ghastly gashes, brutish bruising and scary scars! I must say, when I received the "Gorywood" line of transfers I was immediately struck by how realistic they looked!
Check out the photos of the two sets of transfers I received:

There are many more designs to choose from in the "Gorywood" line of Tinsley Transfers, just check out their site for more!
Along with the FX transfers, Tinsley has also designed temporary tattoo transfers that have graced countless stars in many films and series (including another one of my faves, Sons of Anarchy!). They have a multitude of designs to choose from on their site, but an upcoming line that I am excited about is their Goth line of temporary tattoos! I was sent a few of these transfers for review. Again, my first impression was the high quality of the transfers. These aren't your regular cheap temporary tattoos, but are beautifully designed and look like gorgeous creations from Tim Burton himself!
Here is a sneak peek at the Goth line:
I highly recommend checking out these high-quality transfers this Halloween season! Tinsley Transfers has made fake gory wounds for costumes more easily attainable with their special FX transfers...no more messing with spirit gum or other tricky adhesives or prosthetics if you use the easy-to apply (and remove) Tinsley Transfers! Also, if you are looking for some realistic temporary tattoos to add authenticity to your costume, Tinsley Transfers has you covered with their massive selection of temporary tattoos. And keep an eye out for their gorgeous Goth line coming soon!
Another awesome thing about Tinsley Transfers? Even though they are extremely high quality, they are very affordable! Most transfers won't set you back more than $5! For the amazing design and quality you get with these transfers, the price is a steal!
