Celebrate Valentine's Day the Spooky Way

Hello boils and ghouls, and Happy Valentine's Day! Unfortunately I spent most of January sick (and with a sick cat and a sick Mister Spooky), and am still recovering from this plague, not to mention dealing with all that has seemed to go so wrong so fast in this country. So I hope you will understand that I haven't had much time to devote to you, my dear readers. I'm hoping that this will change and I will be posting more often, I can't believe I've already lost the first month and a half of the year and that it is already St. Valentine's Day!

Now, while I haven't had time to craft any new Valentine's Day posts, I still want to share posts from the past that will inject some much needed spookiness the holiday! Whether you're celebrating Saint Valentine, your partner, or yourself on this day of love, I've got some past posts on everything from what horror movies to watch to what creepy cards to give to the weird Victorian tradition of sending insult cards, and much more!

Stay spooky on this day of love by checking out some of my past posts below:

Conjure Up the Fatally Yours Gourmet Chocolate Box for Valentine's Day

Last year, I was lucky enough to get my claws on the Fatally Yours Gourmet Chocolate Box for Saint Valentine's Day (see my dissection of the boo-tiful chocolate box HERE) and it was such a lovely, decadent treat! Who doesn't like to receive chocolate skulls, bones, coffins, and anatomically-correct hearts to devour on Valentine's Day?!

This year's Fatally Yours' chocolate box looks to be even more extravagant than last years, if you can believe it! And there are two different versions - the regular limited edition box, which runs for $87, or the ultimate limited edition box, which will set you back $115. Product Review: Good Clean Love's Vanilla Chai Body Candy

I've been familiar with Good Clean Love's intimacy products for quite some time now, as their products are vegan, cruelty-free, safe, and effective. In fact, their personal lubricant was named one of the safest on the market! Not only that, but the company is woman-owned and socially responsible, committed to promoting sexual education and awareness while supporting green, sustainable love. How can you not get behind something like that?!

Fatally Yours Gothic Chocolate Box

Sink your teeth into the Limited Edition Fatally Yours Chocolate Box!

UPDATE 2: You can take a peek at 2016's NEW Fatally Yours box HERE!

UPDATE: You can view my "dissection" (aka review) of the Fatally Yours box HERE!

If you prefer skulls and skeletons instead of hearts and Cupid's arrows for Saint Valentine's Day, this decadent and macabre "Fatally Yours" chocolate box from Vegan Treats will be the gift you're dying for this year!

I have coveted this box the past couple of years, and finally decided I had to splurge and get one for myself! I mean, even the chocolate box's name "Fatally Yours" holds special significance to me as it used to be both my pseudonym as well as the name for the horror site I used to run (if interested, you can check out an archive of my writings here), so I just HAD to have it! By St. Valentine's Day, I'll be feasting on glorious bones, skulls, and other anatomies of the human body, all made from the finest chocolate and candy. So suck it, conversation hearts!

Beauty Review: Pacifica Perfumes for Summer

I wanted to find some nice summer scents for myself as it is starting to get warm here in SoCal and my usual scents aren't quite cutting it. I needed something light and fresh!

I'd never tried Pacifica's products, so I thought I would give them a try, especially since the company is cruelty-free, vegan and strives to use eco-conscious ingredients. They make a wide variety of beauty and home products besides perfume, including soy candles, reed diffusers, lip balm, body lotion, body wash, body scrub and more (can't wait to try all their other products!).

I found Pacifica's perfume at my local health food store, but they are also available on Amazon or on their site. I picked up three different scents to try in the roll-on size and they were only $10 a pop! The fragrances I choose were Tahitian Gardenia, Lotus Garden and Indian Coconut Nectar.

I love gardenia, so I knew right off the bat I would love Tahitian Gardenia. And, of course, I did! It has a strong, heady scent that envelopes you in gardenia blooms. Gardenias are said to be the blossoms of love, and with this scent it is easy to see why...I absolutely love it!

The Lotus Blossom perfume reminds me of violets dripping with early-morning dew. It is a unique and sexy scent that I love wearing out in the evenings. According to the Pacifica site, the fragrance is "perfumed with green notes, citrus, lotus and olibanum....The lotus, said to always be looking for its place in the sun, is a symbol of strength, unyielding passion, spiritual enlightenment and unconditional love."

I love, love, love Tahitian Gardenia and Lotus Blossom, but my absolute favorite of the three has to be Indian Coconut Nectar. This perfume smells like a summer's day to me, with full-bodied coconut and hints of vanilla. It is a deliciously sensual and playful scent! I will definitely be wearing this all summer.

I adore all three of these Pacifica perfumes and I cannot wait to try more of their scents, along with their other products! I highly recommend Pacifica's perfumes and with their many selections there is no doubt you will find a fragrance that is perfect for you.

Gothic Love Songs for a Spooky Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!

We all know music is the true language of love, so I decided to put together a few of my favorite love songs of the gothic persuasion to celebrate this day of amore!

Note: I realize these aren't all truly "goth" songs - there is some goth, some industrial, some electronic, some EBM, some synthpop and so on that appear on this list, but I decided to name this post "gothic love songs" for the overall emotional impact of the songs (and also "gothic-industrial-electro-EBM-synthpop-etc. love songs" just doesn't sound as nice as a title).

No matter the genre or sub-genre of music, there are numerous types of tunes sure to please anyone - there are playful love songs amidst ballads of love lost, classics and newer tracks, and even a few sensual numbers to sexify your day (and night)!

Whatever you are doing this Valentine's Day, I hope you enjoy your day and take a moment to realize you are loved!

The simply stunning Siouxsie Sioux - "The Last Beat of My Heart"

One of the most beautiful songs ever - "Lullaby" by Assemblage 23

Zombies need love too! - "Corpses (A Zombie Love Song)" by God Module

Such a sensual song! - "Touch" by Wolfsheim

Somber yet dance-y love song - "Beloved" by VNV Nation

My only love, eternally - "The One" by Magenta

Without you, day is nothing but a waste of light - "Without You" by Seabound

October Rust is a sexy album in its entirety, but if I had to pick just one song it would be this one - "Love You to Death" by Type O Negative

I have to include this one...it's just a classic - "Lovesong" by The Cure

And finally this cover of Queen's "Get Down Make Love" by Nine Inch Nails always gets me feeling feisty and frisky!

Orange and Black and Sexy

Happy first day of fall!

To celebrate, I wanted to show you my nifty nails...I love this look! Orange nail polish topped with a black "French tip".

I did these myself, so they probably look a little messy...but hopefully you're too distracted by the drool-worthy Alexander Skarsgard to notice!! Le sigh...he is just so dang sexy! I think Sookie is crazy to choose Bill over Eric in True Blood! Girl needs some sense smacked into her!

Errrr...anywho, before I drift off to daydream about Mr. Skarsgard, I just wanted to share this downright lovely look with you. It's fun, it's freaky and fiendishly festive!

I used O.P.I.'s "Atomic Orange" and "Black Onyx" nail lacquers. Sadly, I don't believe the O.P.I. brand is vegan. If you'd like to try a vegan brand of nail polish, check out No Miss, Spa Ritual or Dazzle Dry!
