The event will be held on Walpurgisnacht (April 30th) at Phantom Carriage Brewery in Carson, California. There will be death positive talks on the funeral industry from mortician Amber Carvaly as well as an illustrated talk on Walpurgisnacht from Sarah Chavez. Food and drink specials will be served from Phantom Carriage's taproom, and a very special screening of The Love Witch by Anna Biller will be shown.
The event is free, but any money donated will help raise funds for Death and The Maiden, which is "a group devoted to examining the relationship between women and death by sharing ideas and creating a platform for discussion and feminist narratives. They hope to create a supportive and inclusive community, and to amplify the voices of those actively creating the future of death." You can also donate to Planned Parenthood at the event. If you donate money to these amazing organizations you will also receive a raffle ticket for some cool giveaways planned for after The Love Witch screening!
You DO NOT want to miss this event! Not only are these women excellent and engaging speakers (I've had the pleasure of hearing Chavez speak at Death Salon LA and Carvaly I follow on social media), but The Love Witch is a real cinematic treat! Unfortunately, I have a previous engagement and can't attend Night of the Witches. You don't know how bummed I am that I have to miss this event! I'm hoping they will host more of these events in the future so I can attend another one (please please please!).

That sounds amazing! We have a Witches Market every month here in Austin and I love attending that. So great to see supportive free events!ReplyDelete
I never heard of Walpurgisnacht, but it sounds like such an amazing time. I wish this would become an annual event every year.ReplyDelete
