Spooky Halloween Home Tour: My Boo-tiful Bedroom
My bed and my sweet prince Havoc
Happy Halloween Eve Eve, fiends! Earlier today I took you on a haunted home tour of my living (dead) room and creepy kitchen, and I also wanted to share my boo-tiful bedroom with you. This is where I dream at night of moonlit graveyards, friendly ghosts and monsters, autumn forests lit in reds, yellows, and oranges, misty pumpkin patches, and other delightful dreams. It is where I get ready every morning for the day ahead, put together my to-do lists, and write my blog posts. It is my serene space where I listen to music, relax, and gaze out the second-story window into the leaves of a tree. I love taking naps with my cat Havoc underneath the orange lights and soft pumpkin glow, with the window open and the wind rustling the leaves of the tree.
Enough with me babbling on, though, and onto the photos of my boo-tiful bedroom:
Spooky Halloween Home Tour: My Living (Dead) Room and Creepy Kitchen
Today, on the day before Halloween, I wanted to take you on a tour of my spooky home! It has been dressed up a bit for Halloween, but despite a few banners and extra decor, it looks like this all year-round. I love creeping it real all year, so why not leave up the decor that brings me happiness and joy?! I especially love leaving the lights up all year as they make it feel so cozy and warm! And of course I love collecting eerie artwork to adorn my walls.
You may remember I shared my living room with you all last year, so I thought I would start there since it is the focal point of my spooky home and what you see as soon as you enter through the front door. We have a soft black couch that I love to sink into after a long day. It is piled high with pillows and blankets for maximum comfort while watching horror movies. I have pumpkins arranged around the TV, twinkle lights strung up around the room, and pieces of art, candles, and small decorations on shelves to create my perfect spooky sanctuary.
Behind the couch there is a vintage church organ that belongs to Mister Spooky as well as the bookshelves that hold my movie collection and some of my favorite books. Beyond the living room is the kitchen, where I somehow manage to squeeze in my collection of Halloween mugs and tableware and cook our vegan meals.
Take a peek at both my spooky living room and kitchen below:

Spooky Summer: 20 Swimsuits for Darklings
I cannot believe it is already June! I don't know where the first half of the year went, but the days are getting hotter and soon we will be in the wicked throes of temperatures that soar above 80 degrees (my preferred temperature is around 65 degrees at the max). While I generally like to remain indoors during the summer, there is something about this year that actually has me looking forward to long, languid days spent lounging near a pool, beach, or other body of water - in a killer swimsuit perfect for darklings, of course.
Lucky for you, I've scoured my favorite online haunts and scoped out their swimsuit collections for spooky swimsuits, from Halloween-inspired prints to vintage-styled black swimsuits. I've found 20 swimsuits in various cuts, styles, and prints that are just perfect for those of us that have gothic inclinations. The bathing suits I chose all have a certain dark flair and I am certain you will find something to adore for summer below:

Goth Gifts for the Strange and Unusual
Many darklings (myself included), struggle when telling our families and friends what kind of gifts we would like to receive during the holidays. Now, I know we should be grateful for whatever we receive (even if it is your millionth copy of The Nightmare Before Christmas), but wouldn't it be great if we could nudge our friends and family in the correct creepy direction?
I created this gift guide for goths the past couple years to not only share some fiendish finds I wouldn't mind having for myself but to also to make it easier on those that are shopping for strangelings. This year, I've listed items that are mostly from small independent shops and artists with a few products from larger companies. You will find something for everyone, including art, t-shirts, totes, banners, perfume, wallets, pillows, games, accessories, hoodies, and more! As always, all items listed below are vegan and cruelty-free to the best of my knowledge.

Spooky Halloween Home Tour: Living Room
I'm a little late with this, but I promised to share some peeks of my spooky home all decorated for Halloween with you! If you follow me on Instagram, you've already seen some of my tomb sweet tomb. It's small, but cozy and decorated for Halloween year-round, though it does get a little extra decorated for the Halloween season. Though I've taken down some of the Halloween decorations shown below, the orange and black aesthetic continues all year long and anyone who walks in the door pretty much knows I adore Halloween!

Catsploitation: A Zine Celebrating Horror Fans and Their Cats
I recently contributed to a zine called Catsploitation that celebrates horror fans and their cats and had such a blast! Each contributor was interviewed about their favorite horror movies and their cats. Each page of the zine showcases the interviewees' taste in movies, photos of them and their cats, and what horror movie characters and movies best describe their cats' personalities. The zine also contains an article on horror and sci-fi movies that feature cats as main protagonists or antagonists. Take a peek at this meow-velous zine below:

5 Spooky Haunts in Orange County, California - Guest Post on Spooky Little Halloween
Spooky Little Halloween is one of my favorite Halloween blogs, so I was very excited when I was invited to write a guest post for SLH's summertime #TravelTuesday feature. I decided to stick close to home and write about five spooky haunts in Orange County, featuring historic and haunted cemeteries, a mission home to several ghosts, a creepy canyon, and the "happiest place on earth" where many choose to spend eternity.
Here's a little taste from my article:
The Order of the Thinned Veil: Trick or Treat Membership Box
A few months back I wrote a post on The Order of the Thinned Veil, a Halloween appreciation society for like-minded worshipers of the best holiday! This Halloween club is run by the artist and creator of The Cryptocurium Jason McKittrick and co-founded by artist Sam Heimer. It offers three tiers of membership packages, Candy Corn, Trick or Treat, and All Hallows. Each level has its own perks like exclusive artwork, certificates, hand-painted figurines, invitations to special events, and more Halloween goodies. When you join, you pay a one-time fee, receive one membership package (this isn't a reoccurring monthly subscription), and are a member for the year. Throughout the year you receive access to members-only perks and events.
I ordered the Trick of Treat level membership back in April, and that level membership box was shipped out last week and I received mine this weekend. Opening it up was like getting a dose of Halloween spirit and I felt such a rush of giddiness seeing all that black and orange! I may be stuck in the middle of summer, but joining The Order of the Thinned Veil made me feel realize no matter how much I hate summer, Halloween is right around the corner! I wanted to share my Halloween joy with you and let you take a peek at the treats I received - check out my unboxing photos below:

Goth Essentials for Surviving Summer
I can't believe summer is already here, it feels like the spring went by so fast! Thankfully here in Orange County it is still relatively cool due to June Gloom (swoon!), but warmer weather has been creeping up on us (it will be in the 80s the rest of the week) and as soon as July hits temps will be shooting up to the 90s and 100s (ugh). I hate hot weather so I do all I can to stay cool while still keeping it spooky during the unbearable summer months.
Below I've collected some summer goth essentials to help you keep creepin' in the summer heat, including pool and beach accessories, some dark but gauzy clothing (I don't care how hot it is, I'm still wearing black), items that will protect your skin from the sun, boo-tiful bags to keep all these ghoulish goodies in, and much more macabre merch to add to your wish list!

Witch Emoji App
Thanks to Haute Macabre, I found out that there is a brand new WitchEmoji app from artist Pam Grossman! With Walpurgisnacht aka Witches' Night right around the corner, it seems like a perfect time to download this app, which comes with 80 different witchy emoji! Plus, I adore how WitchEmoji fully integrates into iMessage on iPhones and iPads, and, unlike apps like Goth Emoji (which I LOVE, btw!) where you copy/paste emoji into your text message, this one works with your iMessage to add to a text with just a touch (no copy/paste necessary). The app has so many creepy-cute images of witches, warlocks, moons, broomsticks, black cats, potions, spell books, symbols, goats, daggers, goblets, and many other witchy accessories, ensuring you will be able to text your coven with cuteness!
Just look how adorable these screen shots are:

The Fifth Annual Spook Show Halloween Festival
This past Saturday Halloween Club in La Mirada, California hosted their fifth annual Spook Show Halloween Festival, a celebration for fiends who celebrate Halloween everyday! I look forward to this event every year, since it is like having Halloween in March! This was my third time attending this event (you can check out recaps from past years HERE and HERE!), and every year I've been it keeps getting bigger and better! If you haven't heard of Spook Show, it is a fun outdoor event that brings together a wide variety of vendors selling Halloween and horror merch, as well as booths from upcoming Halloween and haunted events, plus food trucks, a hearse show, and live entertainment! It is put on by the Halloween Club (which is where the event is located), a huge Halloween warehouse that is open year-round (and has huge sales for this event). Read more about Spook Show and check out more photos below!

The Order of the Thinned Veil: A Halloween Appreciation Society To Join Now
Those that celebrate Halloween year-round have reason to rejoice this March, as artists Jason McKittrick (purveyor of the fantastic Cryptocurium Parcel of Terror monthly subscription box) and Sam Heimer (dark art illustrator extraordinaire) have come together to offer us Halloween fiends entry into "The Order of the Thinned Veil." The name of this new Halloween club is of course based on the belief that the veil betwixt this world and the next is the thinnest on All Hallow's Eve. Read more about the Order of the Thinned Veil and how you can join below.
