The trailer for The Houses October Built debuted a week ago today, and I've been obsessing over this haunt-themed horror movie ever since! I mean, it combines haunted houses, Halloween, road tripping, awesome costumes, and a spooky story about the ultimate underground haunt that aims to scare people to death?! What's not to love???
The Houses October Built is a found footage film, and while the horror market is now saturated with these kind of storytelling, I'm not sick of it as many others seem to be. And the handheld camera POV actually makes sense in the story, as the main characters are documenting haunted houses all across America (hell, I would watch just that footage, even if it wasn't a horror movie!).
Check out the synopsis and the trailer for yourself below:
Beneath the fake blood and cheap masks of countless haunted house attractions across the country, there are whispers of truly terrifying alternatives. Looking to find an authentic, blood-curdling good fright for Halloween, five friends set off on a road trip in an RV to track down these underground Haunts. Just when their search seems to reach a dead end, strange and disturbing things start happening and it becomes clear that the Haunt has come to them…
The Houses October Built will be released October 10th, 2014 in select theaters as well as via VOD and iTunes.
