The Queen Mary's Dark Harbor 2018

Last week was the opening of 2018's Dark Harbor at The Queen Mary. Ever since I had a blast last year I was looking forward to attending again this year! This year promised to be the best yet, with revamped mazes and what they said would be the darkest and most immersive Dark Harbor yet. I attended their media night and received complimentary front-of-line VIP access to do all the mazes and enjoy the ambiance of their spooktacular midway from their VIP cabanas.

Recap: Midsummer Scream 2018 - Day 2

Midsummer Scream was this past weekend and it was so much fun! I've already shared what day one was like (read all about it HERE!), and now I'll be sharing my Sunday at the event with you. Just like Saturday, day two was a whirlwind of activities! I got to hang out with amazing people, score some amazing Halloween and horror products, go through more mini haunts, attend Hocus Pocus' 25th anniversary panel as well as getting the scoop on Universal's Halloween Horror Nights. Sunday was just as crazy (if not crazier) than Saturday, with Halloween fans descending on the Long Beach Convention Center in droves. Like Saturday, Sunday completely sold out!! If you weren't able to make it, I have a huge giveaway coming up that will make it feel just like you were able to attend! Make sure you are following me on Instagram to enter!

And now, take a look at day two at Midsummer Scream:

Recap: Midsummer Scream 2018 - Day 1

The event I look forward to with glee every year, Midsummer Scream, was this past weekend. It returned for its third year at the Long Beach Convention Center and was expected to be bigger and better than ever (spoiler alert: it was)! There were approximately 20,000 attendees expected for each day, but I think it was closer to 25,000 Halloween lovers that actually showed up each day, with both days selling out! It was packed with excited Halloween and horror fans, and there was so much to do!

This year, Midsummer Scream featured a bigger show floor filled with incredible vendors, makeup artists, special FX artists, celebrity autograph signings, and more. I must have walked that show floor more than 10 times throughout the weekend, and every time I found something new! Then there was the expanded Hall of Shadows, featuring an entryway inspired by Frankenstein's castle, a new vendor section, performance stage, and of course the mini mazes! The bottom floor also held areas for the classrooms and photo ops. All of the major panels took place on the second floor (above the lobby) in the Grand Ballroom. The second floor also held the Black Cat Lounge, the second stage where other presentations took place, a screening room, and more.

I attended both days (check out my recap of Day 2!) and had a blast at both. I did so much that I decided to split my coverage into two posts, one for Saturday and another for Sunday. Saturday was spent mostly wandering the show floor, checking out the Hall of Shadows, and meeting up with other Halloween bloggers like Spooky Little Halloween and All Hallows Geek!

Check out some highlights of my Saturday at Midsummer Scream below:

13 Tips and Tricks To Survive Midsummer Scream

Midsummer Scream is just a week away (eeeeeeek!!) and I am so excited! In case you didn't know, Midsummer Scream is a Halloween festival and convention held at the Long Beach Convention Center. It celebrates all things spooky, kicks off the Halloween season (yes, it's here!), and has been a blast every year I've attended (see my coverage of last year's event HERE and HERE and 2016's inaugural event HERE). It has been so neat to see it grow over these last few years, so I am really stoked to see what they have in store for us this year.

Since so many people are attending this year (I get to see so many spooky friends, yay!), I have been asked for tips and tricks on attending the convention, what people should expect, what they should bring, and so on. I figured I would put together a little guide for those who are attending for the first time as well as for those convention veterans needing a bit more help navigating the event.

With so many amazing panels, classes, vendors, entertainment, and more, it is easy to get overwhelmed, but I'm here to make sure that doesn't happen! With just a little bit of pre-planning, you can maximize your time at Midsummer Scream and make sure you see everything you want to (and more!). I'm a person who love to pre-plan everything, but I know there are others out there that don't, so I wanted to make sure to cover even the most basic of tips for the convention.

It kicks off Halloween season here in Southern California and is an event I always look forward to (you can see my past visits to the event HERE, HERE, and HERE!).

Today, Midsummer Scream revealed more information on their Hall of Shadows, their haunt space that features haunt attractions and monsters to thrill guests! Take a Peek Inside The Queen Mary's MOST HAUNTED Rooms

Happy Friday the 13th! I have a spooky treat for you today to celebrate!

The Queen Mary recognized as one of the most haunted locations in the world, and with its history it's not hard to see why. From a luxury cruise liner to being utilized as a troop transport ship during World War II, where she was known as "The Grey Ghost", the grand vessel has seen her share of both glamour and tragedy. Today, remnants of this past can be felt along the passages of the ship, whether in grand salons, staterooms, or in the massive boiler rooms in the belly of the vessel.

I have always been intrigued with The Queen Mary and the reported hauntings that seem so commonplace aboard the ship. I have visited the ship several times and have attended events there, but I have not specifically gone there for their ghost tours, though I have always wanted to. Well, last night in honor of Friday the 13th I had my chance as I was invited to attend a media sneak peek at The Queen Mary for the unveiling of their most haunted stateroom, B340, to the public. This stateroom had to be closed 30 years ago after excessive paranormal activity upset numerous guests. The stateroom has been closed for 30 years, but it is now open for guests to book...if they dare!

Along with being invited to step inside stateroom B340, I also got a taste of The Queen Mary's Haunted Encounters and Paranormal Investigation tours. The Haunted Encounters Tour takes you to hot spots on the ship where activity has been experienced and tells you the stories behind the ghosts. In the Paranormal Investigations tour, you actually got to go down into the bowels of the ship to conduct a paranormal investigation of your own! I'll walk you through everything I got to eerily explore below:

Check-in to The Queen Mary’s MOST HAUNTED Cabin on Friday, April 13th - If You Dare!

I was just watching a Buzzfeed Unsolved video (see it here) where they investigate The Queen Mary and the infamous room B340 (at the time, the infamously haunted room had not seen a guest since the 1980s and was empty of furniture), and today The Queen Mary announced they are re-opening their most haunted cabin to the public! Would you dare to stay in this spooky stateroom? If so, read on to find out more from the official press release below:

Opening Night at The Queen Mary's Dark Harbor 2017

The Queen Mary's Dark Harbor

Last night I attended opening night of The Queen Mary's Dark Harbor 2017 (full disclosure: I was invited to attend the media preview before general admission). I had never been to Dark Harbor before, so I was excited to check it out! I had heard many good things about Dark Harbor and I was really intrigued by the numerous mazes they had aboard the ship, along with the other carnival-style areas and other mazes throughout the grounds by The Queen Mary. The Queen Mary is legendary already and full of ghost stories, and I can't think of a more perfect venue for a haunt! I couldn't wait to go aboard and visit all the spirits. I'll walk you through my night below!

Recap: Midsummer Scream 2017 - Day 2

Yesterday I shared my day one at last weekend's Midsummer Scream festival and all the panels, presentations, vendors, and other Halloween and horror goodies I got to see, and today I'll be wrapping up my coverage by sharing all that I did on the second and final day of the Halloween festival. Looking back on this year, I can't believe how fast it went and how much I miss it and wish it was longer. When I went last year, I only did one day and I remember being so exhausted, but this year doing both days of the fest invigorated me and I wanted more! I am already looking forward to next year, but for now check out all the things I did and saw at Midsummer Scream 2017 below.

Midsummer Scream 2017

It was Halloween in July, and I wanted to share with you all the fantastically fun and seriously spooky stuff I got to see all weekend, starting with day one on Saturday, July 29th.
