Heritage Square's Annual Victorian Mourning Tours Return this October to Los Angeles

Written by Sarah E. Jahier

I have always wanted to attend Heritage Square's Victorian-inspired event, and I'm hoping I'll actually be able to attend this year!

During a weekend in October, Heritage Square, located in Los Angeles, offers Halloween and Mourning Tours, where guests can learn about Victorian death and mourning rituals and etiquette, plus the movement of Spiritualism and how other cultures and time periods celebrate the deceased. They have actors in period costume recreate Victorian scenes involving death, mourning, funerary customs and spiritualism rituals. Heritage Square itself houses authentic Victorian Era buildings, so it is the perfect setting for the event.

The event will occur Saturday, October 25th and Sunday, October 26th, 2014 from noon to 4pm. Sunday is the more kid-friendly day, as children 2 - 12 can play games and make crafts from the Victorian period as well as listen to spooky stories.

The event is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors over 65, $8 for children 6 to 12 years, and free for children under 6.

Another fun Halloween-y event the Heritage Square Museum is hosting is a movie night where they will screen a classic horror movie (title TBA) under the stars! This event will take place Saturday, October 18th, 2014 - more info will be posted to their site soon!

For more info, please visit the Heritage Square site.

  1. This sounds awesome! We have something similar around here, I think it's geared more towards the wake and funeral food, I need to check into that!. I'd still like to attend!
