Food Review: Love Grown Foods' New Kids Cereal
I absolutely LOVE cereal. It seems silly to say, but eating a big bowl of cereal makes me feel like a kid again and I usually choose cereals that are geared more towards kids that usually have a cute, cuddly animal on the box. So when Love Grown Foods offered me a chance to check out their three new kids cereals, I was pretty stoked!
Before I talk about the cereals, let me take a moment to familiarize you with Love Grown Foods, who is a family-owned company based out of Colorado that makes breakfast cereals, granola, oatmeal, and a new line of cereal for children. Their focus is providing simple, healthy, and delicious breakfast foods to nourish their customers. Their cereals are made with beans (yes, beans!) and they use gluten-free oats for their oatmeal and granola. All of their cereals, oatmeal, and granola are vegan with the exception of one - their Honey O's. I hope they consider replacing the honey with agave or another vegan sweetener so that they could be considered a 100% vegan company!
Their new kid-friendly cereals hit shelves early this year, and like their other cereals are made with a mix of beans (navy, lentil, and garbanzo) and come in three flavors:Blueberry Vanilla Polar Puffs, Chocolate Comet Crispies, and Fruity Sea Stars. They are also wheat- and corn-free, non-GMO, and all three flavors are vegan.
The Blueberry Vanilla Polar Puffs are beautiful purple and golden-colored with a satisfying crunch. The blueberry and vanilla flavors are subtle and natural, not like other cereals where the flavor tastes fake or is overwhelming. They only have 6 grams of sugar, and packed full of fiber and good-for-you ingredients, which include: "bean blend (navy beans, lentils, garbanzo beans), brown rice, dried cane syrup, blueberries, natural flavor, blueberry flavor, salt, sunflower lecithin, purple carrot color, vitamin E (to maintain freshness), citric acid." These simple ingredients are so much better than the long list of ingredients that usually plagues conventional children cereals.
The Chocolate Comet Crispies are full of rich chocolate flavor and their texture is crispy! They remind me of Cocoa Krispies and they even sorta crackled when I poured my soy milk over them. They are low in sugar (only 7 grams), and packed full of fiber, not to mention delicious taste! Their simple and natural ingredients are listed as only: "bean blend (navy beans, lentils, garbanzo beans), brown rice, dried cane syrup, cocoa (processed with alkali), sunflower oil, natural flavor, salt, sunflower lecithin, vitamin E (to maintain freshness)."
My favorite of the bunch is the Fruity Sea Stars, which tastes exactly like Fruity Pebbles! And look how cute the little stars are...who can resist these? Like the other two flavors, they are low in sugar (only 8 grams) and made with healthy ingredients: "bean blend (navy beans, lentils, garbanzo beans), brown rice, dried cane syrup, natural flavor, salt, sunflower lecithin, radish color, black currant color, apple color, purple carrot color, hibiscus color, vitamin E (to maintain freshness), citric acid, turmeric, paprika."
If you are a kid-at-heart like me or are looking for something healthier to feed your family for breakfast, I wholeheartedly recommend these three cereals from Love Grown Foods. Not only are they healthy and made with natural ingredients, but they are also unbelievably delicious! You (or your kids) won't believe these yummy breakfast cereals are actually good for you.
So grab a big bowl, your favorite spoon, and dig into Love Grown Foods' kids cereal (cartoons optional but recommended).

Wow, those look awesome! I appreciate that they use sunflower lecithin rather than soy; I'm allergic to soy.
ReplyDeleteI love cereal too, I just ordered some PB Puffins and chocolate crispies from iHerb and I'm munching on them now whilst catching up on blogs!
