Food Review: Pure Genius Brownies and Blondies

Pure Genius Provisions kindly sent me some of their brownie and blondie bars to try, and I'm pretty much blown away by how delicious these are! They come in cute little individually wrapped squares and are made mostly with garbanzo beans, making them surprisingly healthy! Don't worry though, they don't taste like beans - just pure indulgent goodness!

These desserts are not only vegan, but they are also gluten-free, nut-free, soy-free, and kosher. Pure Genius is also in process of becoming non-GMO certified, so you can soon add organic ingredients to their long list of positive attributes! Additionally, they are only made with natural, good-for-you ingredients like the previously mentioned garbanzo beans, maple syrup, flax, oats, cane syrup, chocolate, and so on - no weird, unpronounceable ingredients here!

I tried the Deep Chocolate Brownie first, and it was so decadently moist and fudgy! It was definitely love at first bite! This is a rich chocolately treat by itself, but it also makes for a superb brownie sundae, which is what I did with one of the Deep Chocolate Brownies! I added a scoop of So Delicious vanilla ice cream on top of the brownie and added sprinkles for a quick sweet treat!

Next I tried the Chocolate Chunk Blondie - if you can believe it, I like this one even better than the Deep Chocolate Brownie! The blondie was just perfect - I loved the texture and the chunks of chocolate gave it a little something extra. I loved the flavor, and basically just inhaled one all on its own!

I love how these are quick and easy snacks or desserts. I can throw them in my lunch bag for a treat at work, or use them at home to make sundaes! They are so convenient and so tasty! Plus, they are under 200 calories, are really satisfying, and provide three or four grams of protein and fiber plus healthy fats from the flax in each bar!

These Pure Genius Provisions Brownies and Blondies can be found at Whole Foods in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, and at other natural food stores along the East Coast. We don't have these yet in-stores in SoCal, but you can order them through Pure Genius' website! Until then, you can always request that your local grocery store carry them.
