Last month at the Natural Foods Expo West (check out my coverage here!), I was fortunate enough to stop by the NII Bars booth, where I got to sample their vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, and non-GMO verified nutrient-dense organic food bars!
While I sat there stuffing my face with all the flavors they had to offer, their founder Shanais Pelka told me all about her vision and her company. As a mom and nutritionist, Pelka was always looking for a quick and healthy to-go meal for herself and her kids. She didn't want to sacrifice nutrition for convenience, so she spent lots of time experimenting to create the perfect food bar. The end result is the NII Bar, which comes in five scrumptious flavors!
Pelka was nice enough to send me off with all five flavors of her bars to review, and I've been enjoying them since the Expo! Each bar is packed with nutrition and comprised of good-for-you ingredients like fruits, grains, seeds, nuts, and more. The ingredients are all-natural and easily recognizable. There are no weird chemical-sounding names you can't pronounce here!
The five flavors the bars come in are Peanut Butter, Cherry Coconut, Cacao Coconut, Berry Cashew, and Almond Chocolate Chip. I loved the taste of all the flavors, but if I was pressed to pick a favorite it would be the Almond Chocolate Chip or the Cherry Coconut! Seriously, though, you can't go wrong with any of the flavors, each of which are bursting with deliciousness! These definitely aren't your ordinary nutrition bars, but are full of flavor and the taste of fruit, nuts, and other all-natural ingredients.
Besides the amazing flavor, I really felt like these bars filled me up and kept me satiated for several hours! I usually eat one in the morning for breakfast or in the afternoon as a snack, and each time the NII bar keeps me full until the next meal. The bars pack around 200 - 250 calories, and are made with good fats from nuts and seeds, along with a healthy dose of protein, fiber, and other nutrients to fuel your body.
Another cool thing about NII Bars is that the company is committed to sustainability. The cartons and cases that they use are all made from recycled materials, they use vegetable-based inks on their packaging, and within the next six months their bar wrappers will be 100% recyclable! I love a company that commits to environmental responsibility!
NII not only makes some terrific tasting and wholesome nutrition bars, but they are also independently- and women-owned, plus committed to sustainability - what's not to love?! I highly recommend these awesome bars for a quick on-the-go meal or snack, plus you'll be supporting a wonderful company!
