Christmas Horror Movies to Stream Now

'Tis the season for some killer holiday horror movies! I love browsing streaming services this time of year for seasonal horror flicks, and this year we have quite a few to choose from on Hulu, Shudder, Amazon Prime, and Netflix. Below I've rounded up some that are available on these streaming platforms now or are coming soon to stream. Don't have these streaming services or prefer physical media? No problem, as I've included links to each film's Amazon when possible.

Welcome To The 13 Days of Creepmas

Happy first day of Creepmas, an annual tradition that runs from December 1st to December 13th. During these 13 days, a group of like-minded bloggers infuse some much needed spooky spirit into the holiday season by putting a spooky spin on the horror-days.

Since I missed this year's 31 days of Halloween, I plan on throwing myself whole-heartedly into the 13 days of Creepmas. I'm gonna be sharing some killer ghoulish gift guides, Christmas ghost stories, dark holiday decor, and much more.

Every year I like to kick off Creepmas by sharing some of my favorite posts from past years. I've been participating since 2011, so I have plenty of ghoulish goodies for you to check out, with more on the way. Make sure to check back every day for a new post so you can put the holiday spirits back into the holiday!

10 Creepy Christmas Monsters That Aren't Krampus

While I love Krampus and am tickled that he has gained so much popularity here in the U.S. in the past few years, I think it is high time some of the other holiday monsters get the spotlight. In case you didn't know, there are many other creatures stirring in European folklore that are every bit as frightening as Krampus. Let's look at a few, shall we?

13 Krampus Gifts For Those On The Naughty List

Merry Krampusnacht to you ghouls and boils! Krampus has been around for centuries, but just seems to keep gaining in popularity here in the United States. If you're not familiar, Krampus, or the Christmas Devil, is a horned, cloven-footed monster that punishes naughty children on the night of December 5th, or Krampusnacht (Krampus Night). He is kinda the anti-Santa Claus, or more like Santa Claus' evil counterpart. He collects naughty children into his sack, then whips them as punishment.

The Christmas season is typically filled with sweetness and light, so I always welcome a figure that represents the darker side of the holiday. And I'm not the only one - lots of people have taken to Krampus and treat him as kind of the dark lord of the holidays. As a result, there are so many fun Krampus-themed gifts available, from toys to clothing to candles to books to decor and a whole lot more!

I've put together a list of 13 gifts to get yourself or your favorite Krampus-lover:

Season's Creepings: Wishing You A Scary Creepmas

Today marks the first day of Creepmas, an annual tradition where a group of like-minded bloggers infuse some much needed spooky spirit into the holiday season. I plan on sharing how I put a spooky spin on the horror-days, including ghoulish gift guides, delightfully dark decor, sharing scary stories, and so much more. It's time for a spooky take-back of the holidays to make them the Hallowdays!

I've been participating in Creepmas since 2011 (!!), and as I do every year I wanted to kick off the 13 Days of Creepmas with listing some of my favorite posts from Creepmas' past! Check them out below:

Eerie Ornaments For Your Creepmas Tree

I love decorating my Halloween Christmas tree every year with eerie ornaments! I have just a small artificial tree that I decorate with mini Halloween ornaments I've had for years (you can check out photos of it from last year HERE and a few years back HERE!), but in the future I hope to get a full-size Christmas tree (artificial and in black, of course!) that I can decorate with Halloween and horror-inspired ornaments and lights. There are just too many amazing ornaments I would love to have that I currently don't have room for on my tiny (but adorable) tree.

Check out some of the eerie ornaments I'm coveting this year:

10 Haunting Holiday Cards

Most holiday cards aren't really my style, and while I love sending and receiving greeting cards, I do wish I got more creepy Christmas cards rather than the same ol' holly-jolly kinds of cards. Luckily, there are many other people that would rather have haunting holiday cards as well, and I've find lots of spooky stationary from some rad artists on Etsy.

So send some holiday fear this year with the following haunting holiday cards:

And if that special someone happens to love the darker side of life, all things Halloween, and have a gothic aesthetic I have the perfect wrapping paper for them! You don't need to use the same red and green wrapping paper dotted with Santas or smiling snowmen/penguins/etc. this year, show your favorite people you really care by wrapping up their gifts in gorgeous prints featuring vintage spiders, bats, owls, pumpkins, the Grim Reaper, skulls and snowflakes, or even Krampus!

I mean, who wouldn't love to receive gifts wrapping in any of the amazing gothic gift wrap below:

10 Krampus Gifts for Creeps

Happy Krampusnacht! December 5th traditionally is celebrated in certain regions as Krampusnacht or Krampus Night ( you can read more on the history and traditions of Krampusnacht here and here!). On this night it is said that Krampus visits naughty boys and girls, whipping them and putting them into a sack to cart them off to Hell as a punishment. In countries like Austria, they have Krampus laufs, kinda like parades, where people dressed as Krampus and their demonic helpers stalk the crowd and punish those that they deem naughty. There are also events across the US that now also celebrate this holiday, including several events here in SoCal (check out last year's post on where to find these HERE!).

If you really like all things Krampus, and maybe can't make it to one of these events, the following Krampus items below might be able to fill the void! If you happen to be looking for a gift for a fellow Krampus lover (or yourself), consider picking up one (or more) of these deliciously dark Krampus-inspired products:

This year, I found some gorgeously gothic sweaters that are perfect for scaring the holly-jollies out of your neighbors, little old ladies, and your family when you sit down for holiday get-togethers.

Haunting Holiday Cards

Regular ol' holly jolly holiday cards aren't really my style, and while I appreciate family and friends who send these I always wish to receive cards that are a little more my style, a little creepy, a little macabre. So I've searched the internet for these types of haunting holiday cards and found some delightfully dark ones, which I'm sharing below:

Watch Now on Netflix: A Christmas Horror Story (2015)

Just in time for Krampusnacht and the holidays you can catch the horror anthology film A Christmas Horror Story streaming on Netflix! I had my doubts about this movie, because, let's face it, horror anthologies can be hit-or-miss, and a holiday horror anthology just sounds like a cash in. However, when I saw it last year I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it! I watched it again tonight and it was even better the second time around.

Where to See the Christmas Devil on Krampusnacht

Merry Krampusnacht!

Tonight is a very special night, as the evening of December 5th marks Krampusnacht (or Krampus Night), when Krampus the Christmas Devil roams the earth in search of wicked children to punish. Krampusnacht occurs the night before the Feast of Saint Nicholas (December 6th), and tonight Krampus will punish naughty children by shoving them in his sack, beating them with birch switches, and leaving them coal. I hope you've been good this year and that Krampus doesn't come for you! However, if you've been good and still want to see Krampus tonight, I've got some suggestions below.

Creepmas Sweaters for Naughty Boils and Ghouls

During every Creepmas season for the past several years I've shared ugly Christmas sweaters that were inspired by horror movies or celebrated the darker aspects of the season. Looking back on these posts (check 'em out here, here, and here!), it seems that every year our options for Creepmas sweaters get better and badder! This year is no different, with so many rad Christmas sweaters to choose from!

As in previous posts, I've only included sweaters that are not made with any animal products like wool (the wool industry is really cruel and gentle sheep are often barbarically treated for their wool - don't buy wool! Here is more info on the cruel wool industry if you'd like to learn more.).

Here are some of the awesome holiday sweaters that are available for us naughty kids this time of year:

Top 10 Horror Movies of 2015

When I started making my list of the best horror movies of 2015, I remember thinking that it would be a tough task, as 2015 didn't really stand out for me as a banner year for horror movies. I felt like there just weren't that many new releases and it would be hard to come up with 10 horror movies I adored this year. However, as I started making my list, I realized that this year it was about quality over quantity, and that there were several stellar horror releases in 2015.

This year (and as usual), indie horror reigned supreme, and while I already had most of the horror movies mentioned below on my radar, there were a few pleasant surprises! Another surprise was how varied my favorite horror movies were, from comedies to romance to gothic to artsy to gory to holiday horrors! Lots of different sub-genres this year, which I always count as a good thing!

I did find a pattern for many of the horror films I did end up enjoying. While some of the best horror movies of 2015 were raucous, fun affairs, I found that the majority of the ones I liked best were actually understated and subtle, films that really stuck with me long after I finished watching them. There were also several challenging horror titles, which I had to watch multiple times to decide whether I loved or loathed them (and at least one of my picks I'm still conflicted about).

So below, please find my top 10 horror movies of 2015!
